SSI: SCUBA Schools International

Not all training is the same. Make sure the facility you choose is a certified Scuba Schools International dive center. It is the only way to guarantee high quality and the ultimate training experience.

Established in 1970, Scuba Schools International provides high quality, innovative training methods and materials to select scuba-training facilities worldwide. To date, SSI has 31 Regional Offices, is represented in 110 countries with 2,401 International locations and has materials printed in 24 languages.

SSI Certification is well respected around the globe so you can be confident that your diving credentials will be recognized wherever you want to dive.

Open Water Diver

These are our introductory SCUBA lessons. SCUBA certification provides you a laminated, permanent, certification card- much like your driver's license. This C-card allows you to purchase and rent equipment, obtain air fills, and sign up on charter SCUBA boats throughout the world. Successful completion of the pool and class components prepares you to do your third component required for certification, the open water work, which is done usually in a quarry, lake, ocean,  etc.. Open Water dives require four SCUBA dives over a minimum of two days and may be done here in central Ohio, on one of our trips, or you may take a referral letter with you to one of thousands of dive shops throughout the world to complete the dives (with an instructor).

Group Open Water Diver classes are usually taught on five consecutive Tuesday-Thursday evenings (6-10 pm) or on five consecutive Saturday afternoons. Private or semi-private lessons, or private groups/clubs, can be set up to match your schedule and needs. Call the shop with questions or to ask how we can help meet your schedule to learn how to begin exploring the fun and fascinating world of SCUBA diving.

Regulator Repair Course

We have updated and improved our regulator repair course. This will not train you to become a repair person, but instead concentrate on teaching you the principles of how regulators work, part theory and part practical application. You will actually learn how your regulator functions and rebuild it (a $100 value). You will take away the steps you can take to field repair your regulator on a trip if it develops problems. Cost: $200.00. You must bring your regulator and it will be rebuilt by you and Joey together so you can see how its done.
